What Wierd Stuff Aloe Vera Sap is

Hi,
Cut off a small section of a thick Aloe Vera leaf of a mature plant.
Now hold it up to the light and you can see through it. Examine the gel/sap that oozes from it, it's like nothing else you've known, how could you describe it exactly?. If you leave the cut section till morning it will have sealed itself.

When to Water?

Hi,
AV are pretty tough but they mustn't suffer frostbite and mustn't be overwatered.
There lies the problem how much is too much?. Well the soil that AV is in must drain quickly, so the plant is watered but the roots do not stand in water. Let the soil dry between waterings. Use the knuckle test, push a finger into the soil up to the first knuckle, if it is dry; water. Water even less in winter.

How Aloe Vera cures many skin problems

Aloe is a powerful healing ointment, both topically and internally. Many scientific studies have shown that aloe is beneficial in speeding the healing of burns, sunburns, cuts, bites, rashes, and lesions, as well as other conditions like indigestion.

Unlike many purported natural, plant-based medicines or ointments, Aloe’s positive health effects have been well-documented and studied. Aloe Vera has an anti-inflammatory chemical called B-sitosterol that effectively treats many skin conditions arising from insect bites, plant rashes like poison oak, allergic eruptions, etc. Along with another ingredient, salicylic acid, Aloe greatly reduces the time it takes for skin to heal from minor or severe burns. It is used as a topical treatment in the burn wards of hospitals across the world.

What has Aloe Vera cured for you?

Hi,
Well I was astonished that a mild cooking burn when rubbed with a section of Aloe Vera leaf stopped hurting almost immediately and what's more the following day left no mark, but that's easy peasy for AV. I read recently that it has been used for radiation burns! I'm currently using it to tackle my bleeding from gums when I brush my teeth which has resisted flossing. The latest thing I've heard of AV minimizing is ACNE- now why didn't anyone tell about AV during my teenage years!!!

There are three bible references from the Old Testament that make mention of aloe. There is also a New Testament reference to the body of Jesus being embalmed in aloes (notably Aloe Barbadensis or Aloe Perryl).
