Watering Aloe Vera in Winter

The best way to kill your Aloe Vera plants is to over water them. You are advised that the soil should dry out between waterings and in Winter to hardly water at all. But how do you estimate hardly water at all, my recent policy has been to give my plants a soaking every two months in the Winter. On a nice afternoon take them outside and fill their pots to the brim with preferentially rain water, perhaps with some cactus feed mixed in.

Six Foods to Make you Look Younger

** Aloe Vera – Great for a whole host of skin conditions
(including rashes, psoriasis and burns) when applied directly
to the skin. And that’s not all. Drinking just 2 tablespoons
of Aloe Vera juice will help to rejuvenate your skin and aid
digestion.

** Brazil nuts – These contain the richest source of
Selenium, a powerful antioxidant that helps keep cancer at
bay and is ESSENTIAL for healthy skin. Eat them as a snack at
any time – they’re delicious (miles better for you than a bag
of crisps).

** Broccoli – Another so-called ‘superfood’. Broccoli is
anti-carcinogenic and superb for all round good health. For
added anti-ageing benefits sprinkle some linseed over the
broccoli.

** Avocado – Avocado is a rich source of Vitamin E and can
help to maintain healthy skin. And it may even help alleviate
menopausal hot flushes. In fact it’s a great all rounder
because it’s rich in potassium which helps prevent fluid
retention and high blood pressure.

** Olive Oil – The Italians know a thing or two about living
young. Olive oil is fantastic for moisturising the skin. It
contains squalene – an antioxidant found in all higher
organisms that helps keep your skin soft and supple.

** Chocolate – That’s right, believe it or not, studies prove
that by eating chocolate three times a week you can add an
extra year to your life. ** MUST BE QUALITY CHOCOLATE **

Aloe Vera Versus Mouth Ulcers

Aloe vera is an effective treatment for a skin disorder and could be used to treat mouth ulcers, researchers say.

Gels containing extracts from the plant were found to ease the burning, stinging pain and ulcers associated with oral lichen planus, a chronic inflammatory disorder of the mouth.

Aloe vera is known to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties and has been used to treat various skin conditions such as cuts, burns and eczema.

Previously the condition has been hard to treat, but a study in the British Journal of Dermatology confirms anecdotal reports that aloe vera gel could help to soothe symptoms.
