Aloe Vera Gel for your Hair?

To Quote Yahoo Answers "I use aloe gel, (from a bottle, I do not have a plant) for my hair. It is wonderful as a leave in. I use it as a setting gel, as a substitute for hairspray to keep my updos neat and smooth. I love it in home made leave-ins and spritzes. It is great mixed with conditioner and honey, if your hair is not coloured, if so, skip the honey and used as a deep conditioning treatment."

It is a wonderful moisturizer for the skin

Uganda buys Aloe Vera Processing Machine

THE Uganda Commercial Aloe-Vera Farmers Association has procured a new machine worth $300,000 (about Shs500 million) to process the crop.

"The new machine will help us to process Aloe-Vera into products such as cosmetic products, tooth paste and health drinks while the residues would be turned into animal feeds," he said.

The machine, which is the first in the country, would provide the market for the crop, which has been a problem for farmers. The products will be exported to Japan, Korea and other countries.
The crop is grown in 26 districts but mostly in Kibale, Wakiso, Mukono, Masaka, Kiboga and Luwero.

Uganda's Aloe-Vera acreage coverage is about 380 hectares (912 acres), which could fetch the country as much as Shs9.1 billion annually.
The machine is to be installed at their head offices Old Kampala this month.

Additionally, Mr Sessanga said they will soon start exporting Aloe-Vera flowers to Sudan where they are on high demand for making 'Aloe-Vera Herbal Tea.

Aloe Vera Gel Helps Preserve Fruit?

An interesting application has been developed by Spanish researchers, who are using Aloe Vera as an edible coating and preservative for fruits and vegetables. In the study, researchers dipped a group of common table grapes into Aloe Vera gel and stored them for five weeks at low temperature, while exposing a group of untreated table grapes to the same conditions.

The untreated grapes appeared to deteriorate rapidly within about seven days, whereas the gel-coated grapes were well-preserved for up to 35 days under the same experimental conditions. Specifically, the gel-treated grapes were firmer, had less weight loss and less color change than the untreated grapes. The quality of both the untreated and the gel-treated grapes was evaluated by a sensory panel, which found the gel-treated grapes were generally superior in taste.

Aloe Vera and Cancer

What Is The Truth About Their Relationship?

According to recent research Aloe Vera may help prolong survival time and stimulate the immune systems of cancer patients.

Researchers writing in Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy found that Aloe Vera has the ability to activate the immune system to attack cancerous cells.

Aloe Vera 'switches' on the immune system by activating macrophages (white blood cells which 'swallow' antigens), causing the release of immune-activating and anti-cancer substances such as Interferons and Interleukines.

In addition Aloe Vera promotes the growth of normal (non-cancerous) cells.
